Aboard the Train from Puno to Cuzco, Peru
Considered by many travel magazines and travel writers to be a once-in-a-lifetime adventure, the train from Puno to Cuzco, Peru is an exceptionally enjoyable experience. From Lake Titicaca to the ancient Inca capital of Cuzco, passengers can marvel at the panoramic vistas of the Andean countryside. The journey, which takes a full day, is both relaxing and entertaining.
The experience begins as soon as you arrive at your boarding station. Live music greets passenger as they queue to be seated. Once aboard the train, guests enjoy a multi-coarse meal which includes local delicacies like Alpaca, after which you can retire to the lounge and bar car to enjoy a Pisco Sour, a traditional beverage somewhat celebrated in Peru. Occasionally the train stops at small wayside stations giving passengers an opportunity to disembark briefly to talk to locals or stretch their legs. All in all, if you enjoy classic rail travel the Andean Explorer is a wonderful experience and certainly one of the highlights of our time in Peru.
